Modern Romance – The Grand Return of Wallpaper

Modern Romance – The Grand Return of Wallpaper

My husband and I bought our own place 3 years ago, and as first-time home owners, we had a lot of visions and imaginations for what the decoration should be like at our home. For me, my biggest obsession was wallpaper. We happened to be changing the carpet floors into wood floors at that time because we are unfortunately allergic to cats (which the previous owner had). So I asked our contractor if he would be able to install some wallpaper for me. His answer was, “Well I can, except for I haven’t done that in 25 years because they aren’t that popular anymore.” Then three years later, possibly influenced by Scandinavian designs, we’re starting to see more and more wallpaper being used in interior design today. Although good-quality wallpaper aren’t cheap, and good paperers are hard to come by, nothing compares to the atmosphere a beautifully papered wall can bring to a space. We have put together a collection of 16 rooms with wallpaper that we love; read on to get inspirations for your next home renovation project! (Cover Photo Source: Anders Bergstedt)

[Classic Florals]

Combining stunningly detailed pattern with carefully crafted botanicals, floral pattern invites the beauty of nature indoors with delicate rose and vine silhouettes. These classic designs enhance interior features and add a timeless touch of elegance to any room without making it feel too busy or overwhelming.

[Modern Prints]

Instead of the subtle colour contrast found in classic floral wallpaper, some spaces may need a more vivd colour scheme in order to brighten up the room. We found some papers that look free and playful from a distance, but once you get close enough, every print has a unique story waiting for you to unfold.

[Bold Graphics]

Scandinavian designs are not only about soft pale hues, but also they are very good with creating bold graphic patterns like Finnish brand Marimekko.
